This research, titled Features of the German Presence in Oman and East Africa during the Reign of Sultan Faisal bin Turki 1888-1913 A "Documentary Study", consists of a group of introductions, including the most important German attempts to appoint a German consul in Muscat and the British position thereon; sources of the German correspondence and their reports on the unions in Muscat; correspondence between Sultan Faisal and the German Consul in Bushehr, where deceased Omani subjects inherited records related to German influence in East Africa; and the raising of the commercial flag on the Omani ship Fath al-Khair. The Omani positions on the German occupation in East Africa, which varied between opposition, struggle, unity, and cooperation in public service, are also examined through the documents. We also trace the interpretation of the German Karl Tobin, who lived in Muscat during the research period, and some of the circumstances he encountered.

The researcher presents the analysis of the documents above, and their implications for Omani-German relations in Oman and East Africa. In this regard, the researchers combine descriptive, historical, and analytical layers in presenting their paper. The paper  emphasized the importance of identifying the nature of German-Omani relations during the aforementioned period and their consequences for the general situation in the Sultanate, as well as the positions of the Omanis and their leaders in East Africa regarding the German occupation of the African continent.

The research paper depends on a collection of Arab and foreign historical and political sources, especially documents from the archives of the National Records and Archives Authority in the Sultanate, and British references through the Qatar Digital Library, which includes translations of some German documents from the German Chef Archive in Persia also unpublished Omani manuscript, the Manuscript Qitr min Tal in the Biography of Abu Muhammad al-Batal.
